FROLING TURNS PRO, WILL JOIN HEAT FOR QBL 2018
The Townsville Beehive-QSolutions Heat have pulled off another major recruiting coup, adding talented Townsville junior Harry Froling to their 2018 QBL roster following his decision to turn pro and forego his last two years of college eligibility at Marquette University. Securing Harry finalises the 2018 Heat roster which will be one of the most talented ever fielded by the Heat.
After two years of college Basketball, Froling recently made the decision to return to Australia and pursue his professional aspirations with the Heat the first stop in what will be a lengthy pro career for the multi-skilled big man. His ability to play in the post and on the perimeter will add another dimension to an already potent offensive arsenal the Heat boast in 2018.
Froling also returns as a much improved athlete and force on the boards having trimmed more than 10 kilograms off his frame since he last played in the QBL in 2016. A lighter, stronger and more athletic Froling is a scary prospect for opposition teams as he figures to be amongst the league leaders in rebounds this season.
Harry shared his excitement at joining the defending champions for 2018.
“It’s great to come home and start my pro journey with the Heat, I’m here to win first and foremost and help them defend the title this year. I want to play whatever role the team needs me to this season but I know I can contribute greatly to the team and help us win”.
“I’ve set some goals personally that I want to achieve and the environment which Rod (Anderson) and Greg (Vanderjagt) have created is going to help me be ready for the next step in my pro journey as well”.
Heat head coach Rodney Anderson couldn’t hide his excitement in adding Froling to what promises to be the leagues prominent frontcourt along with Justin Baker, Matt Rees & Keegan Tudehope.
“Harry is so skilled for a big guy, his IQ is through the roof and he changes our team in so many ways. Having an extra creator off the dribble is going to cause issues for opposition teams in not just being able to lock in so much on Josh Wilcher this year. Harry has the ability to impact the game at both ends and I know he returns to us a better player and person than when he left for Marquette”.
“I’m excited to work with him this season and the roster which we have put together this year is going to be a lot of fun to coach. There is a high expectation of this group, but the best part is that all of the guys know that. The practice environment has been outstanding, guys are competing at such a high level to repeat what we achieved in 2017”.
The Heat will take on the Cairns Marlins in pre-season action next Saturday 14th April at The Furnace, tickets available soon for this game. The Heat will have their full roster available aside from Justin Baker who arrives in late April.
