JETT SET TO FLY FOR HEAT

The Townsville Beehive-QSolutions Heat have pulled off a major recruiting coup in securing the services of former Townsville Crocodiles MVP & Defensive Player of the year Jordair Jett as their second import the upcoming QBL season. Jett will bring a dynamic and unrivalled skillset to the QBL in 2018 and is set to create havoc for opposing players with his ability to attack the rim offensively and defend multiple positions defensively.

Jett comes to the Heat on the back of stellar performances in the 2017 Basketball Tournament (TBT), the 2 million-dollar high stakes hoops tournament in the USA which features some of the best international & US based players competing for their share of the ultimate prize. Jett averaged 19.5ppg, 3.5rpg & 3.5apg for his St Louis University team, Majerus Elite. The 2017 tournament also featured current NBA players, Dwight Buycks (Detroit Pistons) and Mike James (New Orleans Pelicans) as well as a plethora or NBA G-League and International talent.

Adding Jett to the 2018 roster completes what promises to be the most exciting import pairing in the QBL this season with Justin Baker returning for a second year with the Heat. Heat head coach Rodney Anderson shared his delight in adding Jordair for 2018.

“Jett brings us another dynamic ball handler and will really alleviate the pressure on Wilch (Josh Wilcher) in the back court this year. Not only is he an exciting offensive talent, he will also be the best on ball defender in the QBL. I can’t wait to see Jordair and Josh on the floor together, its going to make us very hard to defend with two of the best ball screen players in the QBL”.

“Jordair demonstrated in his time with the Crocs that he has a complete offensive skill package. He can score off the dribble, make the 3 with his feet set and helps people around him be much better with his vision and ability to find open players in penetration situations. His body type and skill set are so unique for the QBL, when he became available for this season we had to investigate bringing him back to Townsville. Fortunately, the stars aligned and we’ve got a player that is going to be great for us this season”.

Jett became somewhat of a cult hero during his time with the Crocs, his cool demeanour, dreadlocks and high level of play endeared him to the fans of the now defunct NBL franchise. He returns to Townsville two years after he last suited up for the Crocs in the 2015-16 NBL season.

“I’m really familiar with Townsville, I loved my time in the city when I played with the Crocs and built some amazing relationships that will go a long way to helping me be comfortable when I return this year” Jett shared from his home in Minnesota, USA.

“I want to prove that I can get back to the level I played at in 2016 with the Crocs and get another shot at the NBL. I’m in great shape now and ready to help the Heat defend their title this season. I’ve been playing a lot here in Minnesota and I can’t wait to join the team and get into the season”.

Jett will arrive in Townsville in early April to join the team ahead of the QBL regular season tipping off for the Heat on Friday 4th of May in a grand final rematch against Mackay.
