ROUND 6 - PINK SOCK ROUND
Pink sock round originated as an idea from Balmain Dockers players who wanted to show support for their Vice-Captain Lynda Rowan after Lynda's Mum lost a long battle with cancer earlier this year.
At the March SWAFL meeting it was proposed that all clubs join in the initiative to raise funds for cancer charity and PINK SOCK round was born!
Every team and umpires will wear pink socks for every game of round 6. Easts who have a bye, will wear their pink socks in the Round 8 clash with Balmain.
To add to the cause, the NAB Newtown have pledged support along with other Inner-West NAB branches and will be present at Mahoney Park all day. Branch managers and representatives have provided stock and will run the canteen and have provided a coffee machine to raffle with all proceeds of the canteen and the raffle going to cancer charity. The NAB will also provide free face painting for kids!
Club presidents and representatives are asked to introduce themselves to the NAB managers at the canteen and find out more about NAB products and initiatives. There are ways your club can benefit such as through the NAB Introducer Program!!
Invite your friends and family to the day and join in the activities. It's all for a great cause!
