FSC Community Coach (Flare Football)

ABOUT Football South Coast;

 

FSC is responsible for the overall management and promotion of football in the Illawarra.  In 2018, 13,000 people officially played football in our region.  Close to 10,000 of these are juniors and 24% are female.  Football is by far the most popular sport in the Illawarra in terms of participation.  We have close to 80 member clubs that are part of competitions.

FSC provides a vast array of development programs for players, coaches and referees and is affiliated with Football NSW (FNSW) and Football Federation Australia (FFA).

About this role;

Our aim is to help our community experience the joy of football by making football simple, fun and rewarding. Our intention is to continue to grow the sport by raising the quality of the development opportunities available to players and coaches alike. In order to achieve this, FSC have launched Flare Football School, a player development service offered to our members, member clubs, local schools and other community organisations. The FSC Flare Football School program will offer year round football coaching in various forms to children of varying ages and abilities. As a new program we are looking for passionate, skilled and flexible coaches who can help grow and evolve the programs.

Your role will be to facilitate the professional delivery of these coaching programs, helping build on our vision to strengthen grassroots football by providing all community players with the opportunity to access high quality coaching and player development opportunities.

 

In doing so, your coaching expertise will help ensure Flare Football School strengthen the technical foundation for players within our region and raise the quality of football and player engagement with the world game. Flare Football School programs are primarily delivered for footballers aged between 6 – 16 years old, with the majority of programs delivered for those aged 6 – 12 years of age.

 

Requirements – who we are looking for :

 

FSC Community Coaches work on a casual/part time basis, working flexibly to facilitate our program eg. After school hours/evening on weekdays and weekends (morning availability is desirable). Each coach is asked to provide a minimum of number hours a week of available time and additional hours would be available for suitable candidates.

This role would suit someone currently completing high school, studying at university or seeking a part time role during afternoons and evenings. Or you may have chosen to make football coaching your career. You should meet the following criteria:

  • Having your own reliable transport is critical
  • Currently holds relevant coaching accreditations : FFA Advanced coach qualifications are desirable and a minimum applicants should have FFA Grassroots & Skills Training Certificates with a keen desire to achieve C License Qualification
  • Strong footballing background and ability
  • Beyond playing ability you must have a deep interest and aptitude for coaching.
  • Works well in a team and on their own
  • Creating an enjoyable environment for players to play, learn and socialise through football
  • A strong sense of commitment, reliability and professional responsibility.
  • Above all else an outstanding communicator and influencer
  • Be available for:
  • Weekend work for conducting courses and visiting clubs
  • After hours work Monday to Friday for seminars and visiting clubs or attending/conducting courses

 

  • A Working with Children Check is compulsory and prohibited persons need not apply.
