Basketball Donation Reaches Kids in Philippines

More than 50 training and playing tops and 25 basketballs have been passed from the Great Southern Amateur Basketball Association to Filipino children through Victor Harbor teenager Zoey Wade.

Zoey ran a three-day basketball camp for 25 teenage boys who lived in a rubbish dump community, a slum area with severe drug and gang-related violence, and a cemetery in the Philippines.

Participants received the basketballs and new tops at the camp, which Zoey said they would “literally live in”.

“At the camp they had the opportunity to choose their own basketball shoes – the first time they had ever gotten new shoes, thanks to the money people of Victor Harbor donated,” she said.
