Bendigo Braves Meets Australian Boomers!

The Bendigo Basketball Association was given an exciting opportunity yesterday afternoon when they were invited to send three players to the Australian Boomers closed training session.
Bendigo coach Ben McCauley chaperoned the three lucky boys, Dylan McCauley, Dyson Daniels and Kobe Schmidt to the session and was able to oversee the training session as well.

The boys were able watch on as the elite trained for their upcoming games next week.
Dylan, Kobe and Dyson were also given the opportunity to interact with the players during their training session, rebounding for the squad, filling up drink bottles and helping out with other general tasks for the team.

Bendigo Basketball Association would like to thank Basketball Victoria Country, The Australian Boomers and Darren Anderson for this amazing opportunity.

“It was great to be given the opportunity to meet Australia’s best basketballers and see how they train and prepare for games” stated Dylan McCauley

Dyson Daniels was very excited to be given the opportunity to meet some of the basketballers he has looked up to over the years, “Being able to meet some NBA players and NBL players was something I will remember forever” stated Daniels.

Coach Ben McCauley was also thrilled to meet with the players and coaching staff of the Aussie Boomers yesterday, “The experience gave the boys the opportunity to see what it takes and how hard you need to work to get to the elite level, the intensity required at training sessions and the ability needed to get there, I am thankful the Boomers gave us that opportunity. It was also great to see the Boomers take some time to chat with the boys and get some photos with them”.

The Australian Boomers have a strong side with 7 of them coming from an NBA line up, five players currently in the Euro League and three in our National Basketball League (NBL).

Hisense Arena will play host to the Australian Boomers in a farewell series before they head to the Rio Olympics.Fans will get the chance to see what will be the final Boomers team for Rio, and arguably the greatest team Australian basketball has ever assembled, play two warm-up games against a team of USA college all-stars from the Pac-12 Conference.
