  • o   Players must pre-apply to attend the Junior Panthers Try-Out sessions.   Player applications can be downloaded from the WBI website.   Refer online:  ‘PLAYER APPLICATION FORM (PANTHERS TRY-OUTS)’
  • o   Players must attend Both Try-Out Sessions to be eligible for selection.  There is a compulsory parent/player briefing at the start of session 1 for each age group.
  • o   Players must play in at least one of the two WBI Saturday Junior Domestic Competition seasons in 2016 or domestic basketball at another BVC affiliated association.
  • o   Players that are Currently Registered with another Representative Basketball Association who wish to try-out for the Wallan Panthers must supply a completed permission to train form before starting tryouts
  • o   SELECTION CRITERIA
    • o   We are simplifying our selection process to rate each player against our T.E.A.M. criteria (see below)
    • o   At try outs each player will be given a score out of 5 in the four criteria areas
    • o   A player must score a minimum of 3 in the 4 TEAM criteria and have an average at or above 3.25 to qualifying for consideration for a rep team (not a guaranteed spot).
    • o   A players domestic or previous season rep performance can be included in the evaluation
    • o   The number of players available for team consideration is then the number of players with a qualifying score.  If there are enough players qualified for two teams then we revert to our normal team structure policy for two teams
    • o   A spot may be offered to a player who fails to meet the qualifying score but who fills a team need and has high potential to improve with training
    • o   If there is a big group at tryouts in an age level but not enough achieve a qualify score then we may consider inviting a second group to training with the rep team and have a pre-determined tournaments schedule for them to compete in

T.E.A.M criteria

Tenacious- we compete hard and never give up

Executers- we show true skill and play our role.

Assisters- we pass well and are stingy defenders.

Mindful- we are coachable, composed and fair.

  • o   GENERAL INFORMATION – REPRESENTATIVE BASKETBALL in VICTORIA:
