Hugh Ngamata Henry

Born November 1937 in Rarotonga. Spent formative years in New Zealand and returned to the Cook Islands in 1967 and finally had his whole family return to the Cook Islands in 1969. While in New Zealand, Hugh played most sports but gained his representative honours for his province Auckland in both Cricket and Rugby Union.

1969: Secretary General Cook Islands Amateur Sports Association,  Secretary Cricket Association,  Secretary Cook Islands Amateur Athletics Association

1970: Committee member for Rugby Union, Lawn Bowls, Golf, Boxing, Soccer, Athletics and Tennis

1979: Elected President Cook Islands Amateur Sports Association

1985: Chairman of the Organising Committee, 2nd South Pacific Mini Games, Cook Islands

1987: Accepted from H.E Juan Samaranch the Olympic Charter on behalf of the Cook Islands

1989: Elected to the Executive Board of ONOC. Appointed as Chairman of the Development Commission

1991: Appointed as a life Member of CISOA

1992: President of the Golf Club

1993: President of the Golf Club

1981: General Team Manager, Cook Islands Team, 1st South Pacific Games, Solomon Islands

1983: General Team Manager, Cook Islands Team, South Pacific Games, Samoa

1988: Attends 2nd Olympic Academy, Canberra, Australia

 1988: Chef de Mission for Team Cook Islands Contingent to the Olympic Games, Seoul, Korea

1989: General Team Manager, Team Cook Islands to 3rd South Pacific Mini Games, Tonga

1990: Team Commandant for the Cook Islands, Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand

1991: General Team Manager, 4th Golf Tournament, Vanuatu
