Round 17 Preview - WOMEN

Norwood Flames (15-1, 1st) v Sturt Sabres (10-6, 6th)

The Sabres will be seeking another upset win in their bid for a finals spot when they visit the Flames at Mars.

The Sabres knocked off higher ranked Southern 76-69 last week. It was a 31 point turnaround from when they lost to the Tigers in Round 7. As a result, the Sabres have just one fewer win than the teams seeded 3-5.

The Flames only just got past the lowly Mavericks last round. The Flames' victories have been by much smaller margins recently than they were early in the season. They remain well on course for another Minor Premiership. Last time they met, the Flames burned the Sabres 73-60.

South Adelaide Panthers (1-15, 9th) v Central District Lions (0-16, 10th)

The Panthers will be trying to double their win total when they host the Lions at Marion.

The Panthers' only win of 2016 came against the Lions in Round 8, by a score line of 94-72.

Last week, the Panthers fell to Woodville 51-79, while the Lions were undone by North 42-75.

Southern Tigers (11-5, 5th) v West Adelaide Bearcats (11-5, 4th)

This week's match of the round at Morphett Vale could be pivotal in determining the top five, with the Tigers and Bearcats fighting for their 12th win of 2016.

The Bearcats have won their last seven, following their 88-62 thrashing of Forestville last week.

The Tigers slipped to defeat against Sturt last week.

While the winner of this fixture will rise to second or third, the loser could be on the cusp of giving up their top five spot to Sturt.

Last time they met, it was the Tigers who were victorious 79-66.

North Adelaide Rockets (12-4, 2nd) v Eastern Mavericks (3-13, 8th)

This week's battle with Eastern at Hillcrest poses as a danger game for the Rockets.

The Rockets won comfortably against Centrals last week. Despite their success, the Rockets are just two games clear of sixth.

The Rockets can ill-afford to take the Mavericks lightly, who fell just four points short of league-leading Norwood last week. Although they are just eighth on the ladder, the Mavericks have made a habit of challenging the finals contenders as of late.

Last time they met, the Rockets flew past the Mavericks 79-57.
