MEN

North Adelaide Rockets (6-1, 2nd) v Southern Tigers (5-2, 3rd)

In the Match of the Round, the Tigers will be out to recover from last Saturday’s fourth quarter fadeout, in their top three clash with the Rockets at Hillcrest.

Last round, the Tigers were a dozen points up inside the final eight minutes, before a 28-8 run from Forestville saw the Tigers concede top spot to their rivals from Wayville. Anthony Drmic posted 28 points and 11 rebounds.

In contrast, the Rockets finished strongly in their 87-77 win over South, outscoring the Panther 21-13 in the final period. Alexander Starling registered 25 points, 17 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Tigers swept the Rockets 3-0 last season.

 

Eastern Mavericks (1-6, 10th) v South Adelaide Panthers (2-5, 7th)

After a run of honourable losses, the Panthers are due for a tick in the win column, ahead of their battle with Eastern at Adelaide Hills.

Last round, the Panthers fell by 10 to North, despite another big night from Eian Davis (33 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists).

The Mavericks were blown out by Norwood, with Michael Hundley (14 points, 11 rebounds) their best statistical performer.

The Panthers swept the Mavericks 2-0 last season.

 

Sturt Sabres (5-2, 4th) v Norwood Flames (3-4, 5th)

The Flames will be hoping to maintain their strong recent track record at Pasadena, when they take on the Sabres, in the teams’ first meeting since the 2016 Preliminary Final.

Last round, the Sabres heated up after half-time, turning a nine-point deficit into an 89-80 triumph. Isaac White produced 26 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Flames had their biggest victory this year, knocking off Eastern 97-56. Daniel Webber picked up 30 points and 7 rebounds.

These sides split their four meetings last season 2-2, but it was the Sabres who succeeded in the Preliminary Final, when it mattered most.

 

West Adelaide Bearcats (3-4, 6th) v Forestville Eagles (6-1, 1st)

The Eagles will be chasing their seventh win from eight games, when they visit the Bearcats at Port Adelaide.

Last round, the Eagles came from behind to defeat Southern 86-81. Majok Deng had 25 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Bearcats slipped out of the top five, due to their setback against Centrals. Darrius Oldham acquired 27 points and 11 rebounds.

The Eagles swept the Bearcats 2-0 last season. Last time they were at this venue, the Eagles outscored the Bearcats 35-5 in the first stanza.

 

Central District Lions (2-5, 9th) v Woodville Warriors (2-5, 8th)

The Warriors will be trying to maintain their recent dominance against the Lions, when the two sides go head-to-head at Starplex.

Last round, the Lions upset West 91-84. Ricardo Martin produced 16 points and 3 rebounds.

The Warriors could not hold on against Sturt. Christopher Clausen registered 19 points and 6 rebounds.

The Warriors swept the Lions 2-0 last season.

 

 

WOMEN

North Adelaide Rockets (6-1, 1st) v Southern Tigers (6-1, 2nd)

In the Match of the Round, the Rockets and Tigers will each be seeking a seventh successive victory, when they face off at Hillcrest.

Last round, Alexandra Green (29 points, 7 rebounds, 6 assists) was the Tigers’ hero for the second consecutive match. Green scored the go-ahead free throws with 14 seconds remaining, as the Tigers eclipsed Forestville 78-76.

The Rockets had a simpler victory, thrashing South 73-45. Tayla Corrigan picked up 17 points and 4 rebounds.

The Rockets won two of their three fixtures with Southern last season.

 

Eastern Mavericks (6-1, 3rd) v South Adelaide Panthers (1-6, 9th)

In the battle of reverse records, the Mavericks will be hoping to maintain their hot form, when they welcome the Panthers to Adelaide Hills.

Last round, the Mavericks got past Norwood 85-68. Alex Wilson shone with 29 points and 12 rebounds.

The Panthers were off the pace against North. Teonna Campbell had 20 points and 8 rebounds.

The Mavericks swept the Panthers 2-0 last season.

 

Sturt Sabres (4-3, 4th) v Norwood Flames (4-3, 5th)

In one of three matches featuring teams with identical records, the Sabres will host the Flames at Pasadena.

Last round, the Sabres blew out Woodville 73-42. Sarah Elsworthy recorded 21 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists.

The Flames were outscored 10-23 in the fourth quarter of their loss to Eastern. Shannon McKay contributed 21 points and 9 rebounds.

The Flames swept the Sabres 2-0 last season.

 

West Adelaide Bearcats (3-4, 7th) v Forestville Eagles (3-4, 6th)

The Bearcats will be chasing a third successive victory, when the Eagles arrive at Port Adelaide.

Last round, the Bearcats overcame Centrals 68-54. Sky Langenbrinck and Stana Zecevic each scored 13 points.

The Eagles fell by a bucket to Southern. Olivia Thompson posted 24 points, 20 rebounds and 7 assists.

The Eagles and Bearcats split their 2016 series 1-1.

 

Central District Lions (0-7, 10th) v Woodville Warriors (2-5, 8th)

The Warriors will be trying to maintain their recent dominance against the Lions, when the two sides go head-to-head at Starplex.

Last round, the Lions won the second half against West, but their 20-point half-time deficit proved too much to overcome. Alisha Carlin produced 25 points and 9 rebounds.

The Warriors suffered a big defeat against Sturt. Ashley Clausen picked up 10 points and 10 rebounds.

The Warriors swept the Lions 2-0 last season.
