MEN

North Adelaide Rockets (4-1) v Forestville Eagles (5-0)

In the Match of the Round, Hillcrest is the venue to be for the battle between the preseason premiership favourites and the league’s hottest team, with the Rockets taking on the Eagles.

Last week, the Rockets were too good for Centrals, emerging with a 90-77 victory. Aric Miller finished with 24 points and seven assists.

The Eagles continued their unbeaten start to 2017, overcoming South 100-80. Majok Deng (47 points, 15 rebounds, three blocks) produced perhaps one of the best statistical individual performances in league history.

To date, the Rockets have conceded the fewest number of points, while the Eagles have scored the most.

The Eagles swept the Rockets 2-0 last season.

 

Norwood Flames (2-3) v Southern Tigers (4-1)

At Campbelltown, the Flames will encounter the Tigers for the first time since the 2016 Second Semi Final.

Last week, the Flames once again slipped below .500, after being burned by Woodville. Jerrell Sanders produced 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Tigers stormed to their fourth successive victory, fighting off West 95-82. Anthony Drmic shone with 36 points and eight rebounds.

The Tigers won last season’s series with the Flames 3-1. Although the Flames were the only side to beat the Tigers, the Tigers were the superior side when they met in the finals.

 

South Adelaide Panthers (2-3) v West Adelaide Bearcats (2-3)

The Panthers and Bearcats will potentially be battling for a spot in the top five, when they meet at Marion.

Last week, the Panthers trailed leaders Forestville by just four points at half-time, before fading down the stretch and falling by 20. Eian Davis had another big night with 35 points and 5 rebounds.

Despite 40 points and nine rebounds from Darrius Oldham, the Bearcats succumbed to a double-digit setback against Southern.

The Bearcats swept the Panthers 2-0 last season.

 

Sturt Sabres (3-2) v Central District Lions (1-4)

The Sabres will once again be seeking consecutive victories, when they host the Lions at Pasadena.

Last week, the Sabres extended their trend of alternate wins and losses to five games, after getting past Eastern 94-56. Jacob Rigoni dropped 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.

The foul-prone Lions suffered a double-figure setback against North. Ricardo Martin poured in 20 points and six rebounds.

The Sabres swept the Lions 3-0 last season.

 

Eastern Mavericks (0-5) v Woodville Warriors (2-3)

The Mavericks will be trying to avoid their sixth loss from as many games, when they welcome the Warriors to Adelaide Hills.

Last week, the Mavericks were blown out by Sturt, despite 21 points and seven rebounds from Devon McGee.

The Warriors ended a two game losing streak, seeing off Norwood 84-62. Daniel Carlin registered 23 points and eight rebounds.

The Warriors swept the Mavericks 3-0 last season.

 

 

WOMEN

Norwood Flames (4-1) v Southern Tigers (4-1)

In the Match of the Round, the Flames will take on the Tigers at Campbelltown, in a battle between two of the league’s top sides.

Last week, the Flames were too strong for Woodville, picking up a 64-51 victory. Jessica Good was responsible for most of her team’s points, ending the match with a triple-double (22 points, 16 rebounds, 11 assists).

The Tigers held on for an 82-81 win over West. Alex Green picked up 16 points, six rebounds and six assists.

The Tigers won last season’s series with the Flames 2-1.

 

North Adelaide Rockets (4-1) v Forestville Eagles (3-2)

The Rockets will be chasing a fifth successive victory, when they welcome the Eagles to Hillcrest.

Last week, the Rockets were able to empty their bench early, blowing out Centrals 103-57. Jo Hill (15 points, eight steals, seven rebounds, seven assists) had a great all-round game.

The Eagles also got the job done early, flying past South 94-48. Oliva Thompson produced 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

In 2016, the Rockets continued their recent dominance against the Eagles in the regular season, winning both matches. However, the series finished 2-1, as the Eagles caused a boilover in the Elimination Final.

 

Eastern Mavericks (4-1) v Woodville Warriors (2-3)

The Mavericks have the chance to match their 2016 win total, when the Warriors visit Adelaide Hills.

Last week, the Mavericks bounced back from their first defeat of the season, seeing off Sturt 86-72. Alex Wilson (29 points, 18 rebounds, three assists, three steals) had another big night.

The Warriors were beaten at home by Norwood. Ashley Claussen put up 15 points and six rebounds.

The Warriors won last season’s series with the Mavericks 2-1.

 

South Adelaide Panthers (1-4) v West Adelaide Bearcats (1-4)

The Panthers and Bearcats will attempt to double their win total, in their Round 6 clash at Marion.

Last week, the Panthers were trounced by Forestville. Haley Bunce registered 14 points and five rebounds.

The Bearcats fell to Southern by a point, with Stana Zecevic missing a shot at the buzzer. Ieva Nagy contributed 18 points and 13 rebounds.

The Bearcats swept the Panthers 2-0 last season.

 

Sturt Sabres (2-3) v Central District Lions (0-5)

The Sabres will be wanting to avoid being the Lions’ first victim this season, when the two sides clash at Pasadena.

Last week, the Sabres started slowly against Eastern, and were unable to make up the deficit. Jordan Hunter provided 20 points, six rebounds and six assists.

The Lions suffered another big defeat, this time against North. Alisha Carlin finished with 16 points and four rebounds.

The Sabres swept the Lions 3-0 last season.
