Liam Killey Re-Signs as a Diamond Valley Eagle for 2019

Diamond Valley Basketball Association are pleased to announce the return and re-signing of Liam “Killer” Killey to the Men’s Senior Championship side for the 2019 Elite League season.

The 6’8 rebounding machine came over to the Eagles in 2015 from his home town Warrnambool, after playing multiple stints as a representative player for the Victorian Country squad in the Junior Championships. Liam eventually moved into the Eagles Big V squad, becoming a central part of the team from 2016! Last year, Liam had a monster performance against the Cobras, scoring 27 points, 12 rebounds, along with 2 blocks, in 30 minutes of gameplay.

In 2018, Liam became a part of the Diamond Valley Eagles first stint in the South East Australian Basketball League, formally known as SEABL. Liam throughout the season provided a major defensive and rebounding spark for the second unit, and is looking to do the same in 2019!

“Liam showed a great deal of improvement and played a vital role off the bench last season, Director of Coaching Alan McAughtry explained. With the expected growth as a 2nd year senior player, I am really looking forward to seeing Liam on court with our team this season.”

Head Coach, Grant Wallace, spoke very highly of Liam's 2019 signing;

” Liam was vital to our 2018 season and excelled in our expectations of him. We have high hopes for him in 2019 in the rotation and working on getting himself into game shape at the moment.  He takes up space on the floor, provides a great inside target, defends the opposition’s big’s well and is the perfect guy to have in and around the changeroom – a real Clubman!”

This year, the Eagles Senior teams will be competing against some of the best clubs in the state, with Basketball Victoria announcing a new ‘Elite League,’ competition in 2018! In 2019, Liam will be an ambassador for Watsonia Warriors Junior Domestic Club, building on the strong link between our Senior and Junior programs.
