THE DVBA JOINS THE SOUTH EAST AUSTRALIAN BASKETBALL LEAGUE

The Board of the Diamond Valley Basketball Association (DVBA) is excited to announce that we have been granted admission to join the South East Australian Basketball League (SEABL) for the upcoming season in 2018.

SEABL is arguably the highest level of senior basketball competition that can be played in the winter months in Australia and is often referred to as the underpinning league to the WNBL and NBL.
The semiprofessional league was founded in 1981 and since then, has been a vehicle for players looking to take the next step in their basketball careers and gain experience at competition at a National level.

The Diamond Valley Eagles will join the other SEABL clubs – Albury, Bendigo, Canberra, Dandenong, Frankston, Geelong, Hobart, Kilsyth, Launceston, Melbourne, Mount Gambier, Nunawading, Sandringham and Sydney to compete across south-east Australia.

We are thrilled to have Diamond Valley enter SEABL,” said Paul Maley, Basketball Australia General Manager of Competitions.

“They are a strong association with a great history and an extensive footprint in the north and north-eastern suburbs of Melbourne – one of the city’s principal growth corridors which is a perfect fit for the SEABL growth strategy.”

Not since the North-East Melbourne Arrows have the DVBA featured in the SEABL competition providing a fresh and exciting start for the Association, and the region.

“This decision delivers the best possible option for the Diamond Valley coach and player pathway along with a great opportunity for all players living north of Melbourne,” said Ross Wignell, Chief Executive Officer of Diamond Valley Basketball Association (DVBA). “The DVBA caters for more than 5,700 basketball participants, 3,700 being junior domestic players from 20 clubs while there were 43 Diamond Valley Eagles teams competing in the VJBL in 2017. It is a really exciting time for the club and will provide some extraordinary opportunities.”

Our Victorian Championship Youth League men’s and women’s teams will continue to compete in the Big V competition and we would like to thank the Big V management and staff for their continued support.

The season tips off in April 2018 with open trials being conducted in early October. Stay tuned for more information on memberships, sponsorship opportunities, coaching appointments, player signings and fixture releases in the coming weeks.
