Civic League Wrap - Round 8

Civic League Wrap – Round 8

Round 8 was a superb display from our top 3 teams showing why they are in a class of their own. This week is also be one to go down in history with the surprise arrival of young superstar Ben Simmons, the number 1 pick from the 2016 NBA draft.

Round 8 Results

6.10PM Uni Hill 52 v Greenhill Beavers 86

Greenhills were in control for the entirety of the game, the only time Uni Hill lead was when they scored the first shot of the game. With all but one player scoring in double digits it was apparent that they simply could not be stopped on the night. It was a surprisingly high scoring game for Jack Fleming with his first made 3 point shot of the season.

7.05PM Gale Force 43 v Dream Team 78

The second game of the night was a scoring avalanche from the Dream Team with a several scoring avenues throughout. With Nick Jones being unavailable for Gale Force it was an extremely difficult challenge to match the scoring pace from Dream Team. New recruits Eric Clayton and Blake Cuthbert combined for 19 points, filling the void of Scott Dowell being unavailable on the night.

8.00PM The Splashers 72 v Redbacks 52

The game to watch turned out to be a sell out with the unexpected arrival of Ben Simmons, filling in for the Splashers. With the number 1 NBA draft pick, it seemed unthinkable for the Redbacks to even be able to compete against the formidable Splashers. This was not the case with only 2 points separating the two teams after 3 quarters, as expected the young prodigy took over in the last quarter to the crowd’s delight finishing the quarter with 17 points and several highlights that will not be forgotten. Will the Splashers be looking for another fill in next week?
