With the exciting news that we will be introducing the brand new St Joseph’s Jaguars Basketball Club to our Junior Domestic ranks, our DV Schools Program answered the call and made a visit to St Joseph’s Primary School in Mernda to help the students prepare for their first season in the competition.

This was our first visit to the school, in which the students braved all 4 seasons of weather – none of which sapping their enthusiasm for the sessions that took place. The energy was contagious, with students cheering and clapping and chanting eachother’s names in encouragement throughout.

The students took part in sessions that included teaching and competing in drills used for fundamental movement patterns, skills commonly used in basketball, and game sense.

We’d like to thank to thank P.E Teacher Mat Harding for welcoming us and helping organize the delivery of the sessions, and to the students for their engagement and participation. The future is bright for St Joseph’s - you could feel the buzz in the athletes that have already decided to support the Jaguars and be one of the club’s inaugural players. We encourage the students and local kids to get on board and look forward to continuing our relationship with St Joseph’s in the future.
