Alex Wilson Selected for the 2019 Opal’s training squad
A big congratulations to our NBL1 Eagle Alex Wilson for being selected into the Australian Opals Squad for the 2019 FIBA Asia Cup!
Alex is one of eight NBL1 players who will be competing in the selection camp, taking place in Phoenix, Arizona from July 20th – 28th. In this selection camp, she will be competing for her first ever spot on the Opal’s team, training alongside the likes of superstars such as Liz Cambage, Rebecca Allen, Alanna Smith, and Sami Whitcomb.
Jonathan Goodman, Head Coach of the NBL1 Women’s Eagles, had great things to say about Alex’s selection. “Willy is a proven competitor, who has shown throughout her career she is a great asset to any team. Her hard work over the years has earned her an Opals squad position, and we wish her the best of luck throughout the selection process.”
Alongside playing in Diamond Valley’s first NBL1 season; Alex’s basketball career highlights so far include a WNBL Rookie of the Year trophy in 2014, two Gold medals representing Australia, and a bronze medal at the FIBA U19 World Championship.
