Diamond Valley Eagles vs Hobart Huskies (Mens)

Diamond Valley were too strong for Hobart, defeating the Huskies 97-88 at the DV Sports & Fitness Centre.

Liam Thomas starred for the Eagles with 27 points at 84% from the field and 14 rebounds, while Logan Hovey had 25 points, seven rebounds and an assist.

Despite the defeat, Jalen Adams starred for the Huskies with 31 points and seven rebounds, while teammate Matthew Young had 16 points off the bench.

Diamond Valley outscored the Huskies 44-34 for points in the paint and shot 56% from the floor. The Eagles also out-rebounded the Huskies 40-30 and had seven more assists.

Diamond Valley led by 10 points in the first quarter, courtesy of a 28-18 run. The lead extended to 18 points in the second quarter, before a Hobart fight back reduced the margin to six points with a quarter to play.

That would be as close as they would get, as the Eagles extended their advantage in the final term to claim a nine-point win.

 

Diamond Valley Eagles vs Hobart Huskies (Womens)

A dominant all round performance guided Hobart to a 90-67 win over Diamond Valley.

The Huskies shot 44% from the field, whilst holding their opponents to 31%. The visitors also accumulated 22 assists and out-rebounded the Eagles 49-46 to stamp their authority at both ends of the court.

Ellie Collins starred for the Huskies with 29 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, while teammate Tayla Roberts had 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists. Hope Terdich was the only Eagles player to score in double digits, ending the game with 16 points.

Hobart led by four points in their first quarter, which then increased to eight points at half time. A 26-18 run in the third term extended their lead to 16 points, before a 19-12 final quarter resulted in the Huskies claiming a 23-point win.

The victory was the Huskies’ fourth for the season and propels them to fifth on the table, while the Eagles await their second win of the season.
