Geraldine McCorkell signs as an NBL1 Eagle for 2019

Diamond Valley Basketball Association are pleased to announce the signing of Geraldine McCorkell to the Eagles Womens NBL1 team for 2019.

The former Penleigh & Essendon Grammar prospect has paved an outstanding career to date, from her rise in the junior rankings, College and leading into her professional career. In 2013, she was a member of the Victorian team that won the gold medal in the 2013 Australian National Junior Championships. On top of this, her domination for the Dandenong Rangers Big V side gained her attention from the U.S, averaging 17.9 points per game with Big V All-Star selections.

In the 2014/15 season, she signed with University of Idaho, playing 28 games in her rookie season, creating an impact from the moment she stepped onto the court, leading the team in field goal percentage. By her senior year, she had already reached 1000 career points, starting 26 of those games that season, and setting career highs in points and rebounds.

Geraldine joins us on the back of an impressive European stint in Sweden with Norrkoping Dolphins, and also last years Melbourne Tigers SEABL team.

“Gerri is a well-established athlete who has had a great career playing college.” NBL1 Womens Head Coach Jonathan Goodman explained.

“She brings great size and athleticism and has a great ability to rebound the ball, as well as shoot the 3 ball at a great clip. We are excited for Gerri to join the nest and we will be looking at a big contribution from her.”

This year, our Eagles Senior Teams will be competing against some of the best clubs in Australia, with Basketball Victoria announcing the new NBL1 League in 2019. Geraldine will be an ambassador for Hurstbridge Hurricanes Basketball, building on the strong connections between the Junior and Senior programs.
