Diamond Creek Creekers Join the SEABL Eagles

The DVBA is pleased to announce the Diamond Creek Creekers as the newest signing to the SEABL Eagles for 2018.

The Diamond Creek Basketball Club was formed in 1976 when a group of local boys playing at Albert Park on Thursday nights heard of a new stadium opening in Greensborough. They decided that they’d had enough of driving to Albert Park to play and thought that they would enter into the local competition. In addition to this, they also decided to enter an U12’s and U14’s team.

Training on the outdoor courts of Diamond Creek Tech, word quickly spread around the area about the Creekers resulting in more and more kids asking to join.

Since then, the Diamond Creek Basketball Club have become a major contributor to the DVBA and there are 40 teams playing for the Creekers in the Northern Junior Basketball League.

Now, the Creekers will join forces with the SEABL Eagles and gain the advantages of a Domestic Club Membership. Members will be treated to a designated home game, a family pass to every home game, 14 courtside seats at 1 home game, 4 player visits to trainings by senior players, 2 seats in the Nest at 1 home game, opportunities for their coaches to gain valuable knowledge and experience from the SEABL coaches and most importantly, a 3-game membership for every junior player in the Diamond Creek Basketball Club.

Creekers President Steve Martorella is excited about what SEABL will provide for the Creekers.

“As a Foundation club in the DVBA, Diamond Creek Basketball Club is proud of its history and is eager and excited to be a part of the 2018 SEABL program. It will be an exciting time for our members to get along and watch the SEABL Eagles and will be a great incentive for the kids to aspire to play for the Eagles one day.” Martorella said.

CEO of the DVBA, Ross Wignell, is thrilled to have the Creekers on board.

“It is fantastic to have the Diamond Creek Basketball Club take advantage of the Domestic Club Membership and throw their support behind the SEABL program. I can’t wait to see as many Creekers at games cheering on their Eagles. Thank you to President Steve Martorella and committee for choosing to join us in the journey”, Wignell said.
