Performance Enhancing Program Update

Over ten weeks, Jess took them through intensive work outs that focused on developing and improving their speed, agility, strength, stamina and flexibility.  The sessions featured technique development for injury prevention, body weight exercises and explosive movements to improve overall strength, power and reaction time, and core exercises to build a stable foundation for all movement on and off the court. Jess implemented various training techniques to increase the anaerobic and aerobic capacity of the athletes and incorporated mobility and flexibility exercises into each session.

Here is an overview of the Term 2 Performance Enhancing results:

 The participants undertook testing in the first and last session, each seeing vast improvements to their speed, upper and lower body strength, core strength and endurance. Improvements seen by athletes included:

- 2 minutes and 45 second increase for timed plank

- 26 second increase for timed squat pulse

- An increase of 25 repetitions of abdominal exercises in one minute

- An increase of 17 repetitions for upper body strength exercises, in one minute

- 30cm increase in horizontal jump

- 0.20 second improvement for sprint activity 

Well done to each of the athletes who took part in the Performance Enhancing Program. You have proved that hard work and dedication does pay off.

Our Performance Enhancing Program will be taking a break in Term 3 and will be returning in Term 4. More information for our Term 4 program will be released in September.
