Vale Des Jamieson – 20/09/1934 to 10/03/2017

The DVBA family and wider basketball community mourns the sad passing of Des Jamieson
Des was father and father in law to Cheryle and Peter Steven who volunteered tirelessly
for Senior Championship and the DVBA over many years.

Des loved watching his grandchildren play and would stand along the baseline and commentate the game like football. The kids in the teams nicknamed him “Commentator Pa” and he was a favourite with the parents and coaches.

Des lived around the corner from our former championship coach Trevor Lee and was invited to sit on the bench for a Youth League game.  Des never left and became their favourite supporter and worked on the door at DV Stadium for championship games for several years.

Des then became the Team Manager for our championship Men's team which included passing out towels and drinks to players and keeping them in stitches in the rooms after the games with stories and jokes. He didn’t mind having a wander during the games either, often seen walking over to the scorers and referees and on one occasion when Andrew Gaze was opposition coach, wander over and say hello mid game.M

Des was one of our great DV people who have helped us all enjoy our sport and our lives.

He was a great personality and character who will be sadly missed by all – Rest in Peace
