Preliminary Final this Saturday Night!

After a heart stopping win in over time last Saturday Night against the Tigers, our Youth League Men now play Hawthorn Magic at the nest this Saturday night in the preliminary final!

Welcome to the Eagles Nest!

Saturday July 27th we welcomed Melbourne Tigers to our home court for a knock-out elimination final.

We knew to expect a hard fought game from our old sparring partners, and we weren’t disappointed.

The first quarter was exactly what we expected, point for point. Holding a 4 point lead at quarter time was never going to be enough. Melbourne cut our lead by one, and we lead by 3 points at half time.

Our 3rd quarter started pretty well, getting out to a 12 point lead with 3 minutes to go. Melbourne came back at us in these 3 minutes, cutting our lead to 7 at ¾ time, on the back of some poor turnovers. Melbourne chipped away at our lead until it was even with 6 mins to go in the quarter. It had been a hard running and physical game, and all players were getting pretty tired by now. It was pretty much point for point for the rest of the 4th quarter ending in a draw.

Our first overtime game for the season was going to test us. To their credit, the boys stood up and took on the challenge, not giving Melbourne an inch. Scoring 13-8 in overtime gave us a 5 point win. The longest 5 minutes of the season!

Nick Dean 27 points (17 of 24 from the free throw), 12 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals

Joel Bellman 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists

Matt Jackson 12 points, 5 rebounds, 3 steals

Here we go with another cut-throat game – the preliminary final. Tonight we welcome Hawthorn Magic to our home court. Hawthorn have taken some big scalps this season, including Terrill ladder leaders Dandenong in last week’s elimination final. We will prepare for this game as we do every week. We look forward to hitting the floor and coming away with a win.

Push yourself again and again. Don't give an inch until the

final buzzer sounds. ~ Larry Bird

Go Eagles!
