YOUNG EAGLE TO CHALLENGE THE BIG BOYS

Diamond Valley stalwart, Greg Page has left the Eagles nest to try his luck with the big boys of the SEABL competition after being offered a roster spot with the Knox SEABL Men’s team under new coach, Matt Shanahan.

Alan McAughtry “ When you mention Diamond Valley Basketball, a few things come to mind and one of them is Greg Page. From his rough and tumble early years where he would run through a wall to get a ball, to his continued improvement and being a part of the National U/19 squad.

Greg has achieved many things whilst wearing the DV colors but one thing always eluded him and that was a State Championship with his beloved Diamond Valley Team. He won National Championships, Represented Australia at the Albert Schweitzer games in Germany and finally got his State title with his mates in the U/20 men last year, he really enjoyed that night “.

Having coached Greg for a few years and watched the continued work ethic, it is pleasing he is getting his opportunity to try his hand against the big boys of the SEABL competition; he will find it difficult at times but he is and always has been prepared to have a crack and doesn’t shirk a contest or a challenge, I am sure he will be successful down the track in that competition. “

Greg Page – “ I have been very lucky to have such great coaches along the way to help me on and off the court – Heath Hay, Scott Ryan, ,Rob Coulter, Ross Clark, Steve Ring, Trevor Lee & Al Mc. My memories are of going undefeated and winning Met 1 in the U/14’s, winning the U/20 VC title with my mates, and my Yth League year.

The main things I take away from my time at DV are the friendships with players and coaches that will be lifelong and the support of so many people all across the Diamond Valley Association. I thank all of them, I cannot thank them enough “

All at DV wish Greg the very best in the next phase of his career.
