NBL1 Womens Eagles sign Mikayla Peterson for 2019
Diamond Valley Basketball Association are pleased to announce that Mikayla Peterson will be joining our NBL1 Eagles Women in 2019. Mikayla had a fantastic season in last years Greensborough Plaza Womens Eagles Youth team, and will be looking to have an impact with the upcoming NBL1 Eagles.
Mikayla had multiple breakout games in 2018 Youth Championship, including one particular game against Knox Raiders, scoring 23 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals and shooting 10/10 from the free throw line. Her ability to play the inside/out game has made her an incredibly versatile player at both ends. In the 2018 Youth Championship season, she averaged 12.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, shooting 41% from the field for the season.
Whilst also representing Diamond Valley Eagles in her junior career & senior career, Mikayla has also found success representing Victoria on multiple occasions over the years. More recently in 2019, she was selected in the U/20s squad that competed in the Australian National Championships in Canberra, playing against the best basketball talent in the country.
“It is a really exciting time for Mikayla, as she has recently competed in the U/20 National Championships and is making her way into our NBL1 side. She has the opportunity to play and train alongside some very experienced athletes and I have no doubt Mikayla can go up another level in the next 12 months” – Director of Coaching Alan McAughtry.

This is a fantastic example of the work that the coaches have done with her at DV. This year, our Eagles Senior Teams will be competing against some of the best clubs in Australia, with Basketball Victoria announcing the new NBL1 League in 2019. Mikayla will be an ambassador for Apollo Rockets, building on the strong connections between the Junior and Senior programs.
