U/8 Domestic Season Opener Brings Fantastic Numbers

On Sunday 10th February, Diamond Valley Basketball ran the U/8 Junior Domestic season opener at Diamond Valley Sports and Fitness Centre. 98 kids from all 20 domestic clubs gathered together, to work with some of the best coaches and Senior Womens and Mens players in the Eagles program. All kids walked away with new skills gained, and also receiving a 3-game membership for the 2019 Eagles Elite League Season!

Alan McAughtry, Director of Coaching of DVBA, ran the session for the U/8s on the day, and had great things to say about the event;

“I really would like to thank all of the parents, players and the clubs for supporting such a great day. 98 junior basketballers coming in to work with our coaches and senior players was a fantastic result and we would love to see even more in the near future. Our dedicated coaches and players who give up their time to welcome our junior basketballers into the program, is something that I feel very proud of and the feedback from the parents was very pleasing. A big thanks goes to the domestic coaches who were involved on the court helping the young players throughout the day “

DVBA CEO, Ross Wignell, gave us his thoughts on the great 2019 turnout;

“Welcome to all of our new DVBA basketball players, and welcome back for 2019 to our players that have played a season or two with us. It was great to see the concentration and effort by all participants at the DVBA U8 Season Opener yesterday. Thanks to all clubs for encouraging your teams to come along, and it looked like the players were having a great time learning. Our on-court coaches were into it and along with Al, it made it an extremely good session. Thank you and well done!
