NBL1 Eagles sign U.S recruit Logan Hovey for 2019
Diamond Valley Basketball Association are pleased to announce the signing of U.S recruit, Logan Hovey, to the Men’s NBL1 Eagles team for the 2019 season. The 6-6 Forward from Orlando, Florida, prior to signing with our Eagles, has had a very successful basketball career to date.
Beginning with his Senior Year at Hagerty High School in Florida, he was named 8A player of the year by the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches, leading the side to a 2013 State Championship in Florida’s highest level of competition, averaging 22.7 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
In 2013, Logan agreed to sign with NCAA Division 1 College, Florida Gulf Coast, playing 14 games across two seasons with the school. In 2015, the combo wing transferred to NCAA Division 2 College, Southwest Baptist, where in his Sophomore year he averaged 15.2ppg and 7.5rpg, with an All MIAA Honorable mention. His numbers continued to improve towards his Senior year, where he averaged 18.4ppg, shooting 51.4% from the field, and making the MIAA 2nd team!
With 2019 being his first year playing in an Australian League, the Forward will look to make a huge impact on and off the floor during the season for the Eagles. Head Coach, Grant Wallace, stated his excitement in bringing Logan to from the States to Diamond Valley;
“Logan had an impressive collegiate career and everywhere he plays his team wins. He was highly recommended to us by one of our own in Kai Woodfall, as they played together in college. He is a player who is outstanding on the floor and even better off it! Logan will bring an exceptional work ethic to our group and allow much more flexibility in how we play. I cannot wait to get him here and ready for the season ahead!”
This year, our Eagles Senior Teams will be competing against some of the best clubs in Australia, with Basketball Victoria announcing a new NBL1 League in 2019. Logan will be an ambassador for Laurimar Thunder, building on the strong connections between the Junior and Senior programs.
