Chevannah Paalvast Joins the SEABL Eagles

The DVBA are excited to announce Chevannah Paalvast as the newest signing to the SEABL Eagles women for 2018.

Hailing from New Zealand, Chevannah came to Australia in 2015 to play for the Southern Peninsula Sharks in the Big V competition. After a stand out season, Chevannah was recruited to the Townsville Fire in the WNBL and helped the Fire win the WNBL Championship. In the same year, the 6ft guard made her international debut with the New Zealand Tall Ferns at the FIBA Oceania Championships, where she helped her team take home a silver medal.

In 2016, Paalvast returned to the Fire and once again represented the Tall Ferns at the FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournament. After a whirlwind 2 years in Australia, Chevannah was signed by the UC Capitals in the WNBL for season 2017/18 alongside fellow Eagles, Maddie Rocci, Abi Wehrung, Lauren Scherf and Ezi Magbegor.

Now Chevannah is joining the flock for 2018.

“I’ve never played SEABL before but I’ve heard a lot of great things about the league. It’s really exciting that I get to be a part of such a talented team.” Paalvast said. “Practices will be competitive and intense, so it will be a great environment to grow as a basketball player. I think it will be really fun and we will be a force to be reckoned with.”

Head Coach of the SEABL women, Zoe Carr, is ecstatic about what Chevannah will bring to the team.

“I watched Chevannah at during the WNBL cluster round game. She was an absolute menace at the defensive end and I thought to myself ‘we need her!’. She can guard 1 through 5 and has a fantastic reputation of being a quality team person. She also brings with her a lot of experience which will be beneficial to our young group.” Carr said.
