Sharna Commits to Marquette University 2019

One of Diamond Valley’s most exciting senior prospects, Sharna Ayres, who played in our Senior Women’s SEABL team in 2018, has officially announced she will be committed to the 2019 Div 1 basketball program at Marquette University, Milwaukee, USA.

Sharna made her way through the Junior domestic ranks at Apollo Rockets Basketball Club, where she learned the fundamentals of the game. Even from under 8s, the shooting guard showed huge potential to be a great player. It was not long before she joined the Diamond Valley Eagles representative program, taking in as much as she could from different coaches and growing the strengths of her game as a guard.

She was selected into the U18 Victoria Metro State Team and had an absolutely fantastic showing at the tournament, earning a spot at the Australian Development Camp. Sharna also had a great season with our SEABL women’s Eagles, as the team received a finals birth in the first year of the club entering the competition.

CEO of Diamond Valley Basketball Association, Ross Wignell, had this to say about Sharna’s amazing achievement. “This is a fantastic opportunity for Sharna and once again, great representation of the development work done throughout Diamond Valley’s Junior Program.
