Youth League Men and Women Keep on Rolling in Preseason!

Both our Youth League teams were on court this past weekend, showing improvement which led to wins for both groups.

The VYCM faced Broadmeadows on Saturday night, in what turned out to be a tight contest. It was a game of runs that saw the lead change over multiple times. The Eagles eventually out lasted the Broncos, coming away with a 78-73 win. Nathan Poelsma had his first Youth League experience, coming off the bench to provide a scoring punch. Casey DeWacht and Matt Baggio showed the kind of impact they could have on a game, dominating the inside and fitting into the team nicely.

You can catch the Youth League Men at DVSFC on Sunday February 25 @ 1pm against the Australian Goannas, a gold cold donation on entry to help raise funds for the Goannas.

The VYCW had their second practice game of the pre-season against Altona on Sunday, coming out on top 58-46, in a tightly fought contest. Sharna Ayres lead the way on the offensive end of the floor, with Nicola Stewart and Chelsie Ford providing a presence in the post also. Gabby Newton came off the bench in her first game at a senior level for the Eagles, providing some instant energy at both ends of the floor. Some strong full court pressure up the floor from Ivana Vasiljevic and Natalie Davies disrupted Altona from a smooth flow into their offense at times throughout the game also.

The VYCW have another practice game this Sunday February 18, at the DVSFC at 2pm against the Blackburn Vikings Division 2 Women's side.
