VYCW

Eagles 49 def by Melbourne Tigers 53

Heartbreak…..the only way to describe the 4 point loss by our YL Women. A strong first half saw the Eagles lead by 9 points at half time. In what they call the premiership quarter, the Tigers were able to work themselves back into the game and in a low scoring quarter, held our Eagles to just 1 point for the quarter and lead at 3 quarter time. In a seesawing last quarter, the offense couldn’t quite click again and the Tigers run out the victors. Amelia Smith was huge for the Eagles with 15 points and 12 rebounds whilst Angela Morris (12) and Ivana Vasiljevic (12) assisted on the scoreboard. Unfortuneately the loss meant it was the end of the season for the women. Coached by Brendan Jackson, the women has a good season and played some extremely good basketball which all bodes well for the future

SEABL Women

Eagles 99 defeated Ballarat Rush 62

The Eagles secured their first ever finals spot with a thumping win over the Rush. Despite a sluggish start, the Eagles powered away from quarter time to register their 12th win for the season and secure 5th spot on the ladder. Chevannah Paalvast had her best game for the season with a game high 35 points as well as 5 steals, 7 rebounds and 3 assists. Skipper Abbey Wehrung played the support act with 20 points whilst every other player was able to register points in a dominant display. With the expected return of Ezi Magbegor next week, the women will now take on Geelong in an Elimination Final at DV on Saturday night.

SEABL Men

Eagles 66 def by Ballarat Miners 76

It was another case of so close yet so far for our SEABL men. In what has been a tale of the season, with only 2 points the difference at 3 quarter time, the Men fell just short in the last quarter to finish the season on 7 wins. Dyson King-Hawea with 10 rebounds and 16 points led the way for the Eagles whilst Matt Reynolds continued his late season form with 13 points. Mike Best (12), Darcy Harding (10) and Joel Spear (10) also reached double figures.
