Diamond Valley makes Victorian Elite League in 2019

Yesterday afternoon, Basketball Victoria made an official announcement that Diamond Valley Eagles, along with 17 other clubs, will be competing in the new Senior Elite League in 2019. The new league will stand in place of the South East Australia Basketball League (SEABL), which came to an end this year after a 38 year span of operations.

Ross Wignell, CEO of Diamond Valley Basketball, had this to say about the big annoucement by Basketball Victoria. "This is a very exciting time for all of our members of the Diamond Valley Basketball Association. After a stellar first year in the SEABL league, the club is looking forward to continue our success in a new era of high calibre, professional basketball"

Basketball Victoria CEO, Nick Honey, had this to say about the new Elite League. “Basketball Victoria would like to congratulate the foundation licence holders of the Senior Elite League,” Honey said. “These teams will form an exciting, new league that offers extensive playing opportunities to high-calibre athletes throughout Victoria, Tasmania and for Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence scholarship holders."

Further information on the league will be announced in upcoming months in the lead up to the season tip off.
