Big V Wrap - Round 5
It was a weekend with mixed results for our Eagles, with our youth teams coming away with a win each but for the senior teams, they are looking to put this week behind them and get back into the winner’s circle.
Our VYCW had a great start to their weekend finishing strong defeating Bulleen 49 – 44. Sian Gilliam was the standout with 12 points and 13 rebounds. To add to the great win we got to see one of our Eagle Junior’s Mikayla Peterson debut. The girls than travelled to the State Basketball Centre on Sunday to face Knox, but came up short losing 66 - 60. Brodie Theodore gave it her all with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Our VYCW will be looking to solidify their spot in the top 4 this week, as they take on the Altona Gators this Saturday night @ DV 6pm.
Our VYCM had a great road win in Waverley on Sunday, 77 – 73. It was a great team effort with 4 players scoring in double figures. Lukas Kafritsas was a key factor to the win with 18 points and 7 rebounds. Our VYCM will be looking to continue this winning form this Sunday against Bulleen.
Our SCW went down to the Bulleen Boomers 71 – 48 on Saturday night. The hot shooting Boomers proved to be too much for our girls; Katie Oliver had a good night despite the result with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 6 steals and 4 blocks. Our SCW will be looking to bring their A game against the undefeated Sunbury Jets this Saturday night @ DV 8pm.
Our SCM went down to Waverley Falcons who came out firing in the second half, 62 -56. Brandon Conley had another solid week with 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Matt Reynolds tallied 11 points and 11 rebounds. Our SCM will be back in action against Ringwood on Sunday @ DV 1pm.
