Talk around the trap's - Vol 1
Welcome to the first edition of Talk Around The Trap's, where we will be spinning a yarn with folk all over the association. First up, we spoke with Blake Irwin, the coach of the Under 10 girls at Wattle Glen.
1. How has the team been going so far?
The team has been doing extremely well. The improvement has been really good to see. They have been playing like a team. In a majority of games, every player puts up a shot and we are not relying on 1 or 2 players to get the teams score.
2. What is your main objective for the season?
To get each player involved in the game, develop skills and most importantly, have a whole lot of fun!
3. What do you find most enjoyable about coaching?
Being able to pass on my love & skills of basketball on to younger kids and see them enjoy themselves.
4. What has been the best highlight so far with this team?
Being able to see a player score her first goal ever and also seeing a player who never really scores getting 8 points in one game. Seeing her team-mates get around her and cheer her on was awesome.
5. What do you find most challenging about being a basketball coach?
Trying to keep things interesting at training for this age group.
