COTTER WELCOMED BACK IN NEW ROLE

Big V State Championship Men’s Assistant Coach, Braden Cotter has been welcomed back into the Big V fold for season 2017, but this time in a new role, having been appointed Head Coach of the Victorian Youth Championship Men.

Braden will take the reigns of a program that former coach Damian Clarke and his staff put a lot of work into last season, and took steps forward with. Unfortunately Damian will be unable to continue in the role, due to health reasons, and Braden will look to continue building upon the foundation Damian laid.

I’m really excited to be given the chance to coach the Youth Men at Diamond Valley. I look forward to implementing what I've learnt from sitting on coach McAughtry's bench in these past two seasons and keep the program heading in the right direction thanks to Damian’s efforts last season’, new Head Coach Braden Cotter said.

‘I'd like to thank Ross Wignell and the committee for the opportunity. I look forward to working with Coach Ross Moll in furthering the progress of our juniors, coming through to the senior ranks’.

Braden has contributed to all facets of Diamond Valley Basketball in recent years. Having been involved in our NEAT and Eagles Academy Programs, coaching junior Eagles teams, coaching individual and small group skills sessions with aspiring players at 6am at Diamond Valley during the week and then assisting our State Championship Men’s team – he is ready, prepared and worthy of taking this next step and running his own program with our Youth Men.

Braden is continually working hard at developing his coaching. His commitment to the club since joining has been very pleasing and this attitude will position him well as he takes on the Head Coaching Position of our Youth Championship Men’s Team. The emergence of our younger players progressing through this team is paramount and Braden will do a great job of this’, DVBA CEO Ross Wignell stated.

The club is very appreciative of the work Damian put in and the professionalism and class he represented the club with, and we believe Braden will be a very capable coach to carry the group forward in 2017.
