The Northern Junior Basketball League’s Spring 2017 came to a close with some fantastic basketball played this past weekend. Players, coaches, families and friends gathered at Diamond Valley for the M&M Printworks 2017 Spring NJBL Boys & Girls Grand Finals.  Thirty-nine games were fiercely contested on Saturday for the boys with nineteen excellent games being played out for the girls across Sunday. It was great to see the amount of support for teams in all age groups that had won the right to play off over the weekend. The level of basketball was outstanding and for the best part of the weekend, sportsmanship was a highlight.

Presenting the Runners Up, Premiers medallions along with the GF MVP trophies at the Presentation Ceremony were Diamond Valley’s Youth League and SEABL Men’s & Women’s coaches and players including Matt Reynolds, Sam Reynolds, Jack McAughtry, Dylan Dunstan, Willem Cornilissen, Jack Roberts, Braden Cotter, Charlie Fyffe, Joel Rimes, Nick Sorani, Jacqui O’Neil, Meg Crupi, Zoe Carr, Rob Coulter, Sam Thornton, Jordan Henry, Natalie Davies, Emma Parks and Ash Boek.

Thank you to Craig at Greenhill Engravers for once again doing a fantastic job with the Grand Final medallions and trophies.

Thank you to all Junior Domestic Clubs, their players, parents and coaches for your efforts and support throughout the season and thank you also to all the volunteers from clubs that helped with the BBQ on Saturday. Thank you to the Grading Secretaries, who spent time to make each competition as fair as possible.

I would like to recognise our volunteers on the day; Sandra Macneil, Stuart Callaghan, Dean Gluyas, Greg Macneil, John Bowell, Kayleen Jones, Jason Van Hout and Greg Ayton who assisted with presentations and court announcements. With absolute thanks, you all did a great job. Thank you also to Vicki Ward, state member for Eltham and Cr. Grant Brooker who helped with presentations. The DVBA are wrapped that you attended such a big day for our Association and we thank you for your ongoing support.

Well done and thank you to all court supervisors, scorers and referees who officiated each match in a very professional manner and ensured the days ran smoothly.
