Sharna Ayres Joins the SEABL Eagles

Sharna takes the next step

One of Diamond Valley’s most exciting junior graduates, Sharna Ayres, will be taking the next step in her basketball journey as she earns a position on the SEABL Eagles women’s team for the 2018 season.

It all began at St Mary’s Basketball Club where Sharna worked hard at learning the fundamentals of the game. As early as U8’s it was obvious that there was something special about the shooting guard and she entered our Eagles representative program, going from strength to strength and taking in as much as she could from her coaches.

After being a regular NITP athlete, Sharna was this year selected into the U18 Victoria Metro State Team. Sharna had a fantastic tournament which earned her an invitation to the Australian Development Camp and during all of this, she somehow found the time to play 7 games for Diamond Valley’s State Championship Women’s team.

It’s been a huge year for Sharna and the reward for her effort and dedication to the Eagles program has paid off.

Always looking for a challenge and to improve, Sharna says “It is a great opportunity to test my skill level and learn about the game from elite players.”

SEABL Women’s head coach Zoe Carr has already been impressed by Sharna’s work ethic and drive.

“I have coached Sharna before and it’s safe to say she keeps you on your toes. My favorite thing about Sharna is she never takes a backwards step regardless of the reputation of her opponents. That, and her 3 point shot!” Carr said.

The SEABL season tips off in April and the Eagles need your support. Foundation Memberships are available for purchase. Please follow the link below to become a Foundation Member and be a part of DVBA history.
