Civic League Wrap – Round 15

Round 15 has given us a few surprises , including a contender  dropping from the top 4 and a perfect season coming to a halt with their first loss of the season. The top 4 spots are still no closer to being confirmed with each week bringing another upset.

Round 15 Results

6.10PM Redbacks 49 v The Splashers 54

The Splashers have held off a courageous Redbacks, who are now fighting a losing battle to stay in contention for finals. With nothing separating the two teams for the first three quarters, it took a scoring run in the 4th from Bryson Norris and Sam Whelan to get the Splashers over the line. Bryson Norris was huge this game finishing up with 23 points.

7.05PM Dream Team 49 v Gale Force 79

 

Gale Force have handed Dream Team their third consecutive loss winning by a whopping 30 points. Having only 5 players available did not stop the onslaught from Gale Force with all 5 players scoring double digit points. Dream Team after being an early contender for a top 2 spot now find them fighting to get back into finals contention. They will need to recover the chemistry from the start of the season before it is too late.

8.00PM Greenhills Beavers 54 v Uni Hill 63

Uni Hills have pulled off a massive upset ending Greenhills' undefeated season. Uni Hill have now placed themselves in a great spot and look to be a big contender in the upcoming finals. The multiple scoring avenues were the main concerns for Greenhills with 5 players from Uni Hill scoring in double digits. Ernst Kruger had a good game showing that he needs to be guarded from all spots on the court with 3 made 3’s.

8.55PM St. Mary’s Sharks 59 v Wolves 52

St. Mary’s Sharks are starting to find some consistent form heading into the pointy end of the season. The Sharks had another hot shooting night with 30 points coming from beyond the arc. The Wolves never gave up with Jay Kemp also shooting the lights out, with 18 of his 20 points coming from the 3 point line. Mark Scherf and Lukas Kafritsas had a stellar game with a combined 37 points including 8 3 pointers.
