Diamond Valley Announces The SEABL Men's Coach for 2018

The DVBA are pleased to announce Grant Wallace as the head coach of the Diamond Valley Eagles SEABL men for 2018.

Grant joins the Eagles with almost two decades of experience coaching at SEABL level and is excited about the prospect of working within the Diamond Valley system. He is the current assistant coach to the U19 Australian Junior Men’s team, the Emus and has years of experience helping juniors transition into senior basketballers.

“What a great honour and privilege for me to be appointed Head Coach of the Diamond Valley Eagles men for the upcoming 2018 SEABL Season. I cannot speak highly enough of the vision and professionalism of the Board and Management at Diamond Valley for taking the progressive step forward into the elite SEABL competition, and placing the Association and the greater Nillumbik region onto the national sporting stage.” Wallace said.

A local in the northern region, Grant joins the Eagles at a very exciting time as we take our first steps into this prestigious league.

“I am a proud northern suburbs boy, growing up in Bundoora and now relish the challenge to get to work and repay the confidence and faith placed in me to establish a cohesive and competitive men’s roster that all at Diamond Valley Basketball can be extremely proud of, on and off the floor. I played my first home game of SEABL at the Diamond Valley stadium with the North-East Melbourne Arrows in 1989 and feel very much like it is meant to be in my basketball journey.”

Grant’s long coaching history at this level and knowledge of the junior landscape was a major factor in the selection of Wallace.

“Experience and knowledge of the league is what is most appealing when looking for any head coach, coupled with an integral understanding of our junior domestic, junior championship & youth league program, was very important to the association and its members.” Alan McAughtry, Director of Coaching of the Diamond Valley Basketball Association said.

“Grant brings those qualities to our club. Grant’s recent appointment and involvement with the Australian National Junior Program gives continued exposure for our players & coaches at the highest level.”

Open try outs for the SEABL men will be announced shortly
