AL MCAUGHTRY TO A/C WITH MELBOURNE BOOMERS
The Deakin Melbourne Boomers recently announced the appointment of Al McAughtry as assistant coach for the coming 2016/17 WNBL season.
Al and Head Coach, Guy Molloy have worked together on Vic Metro and Australian Junior Teams in the past combining to form a very good partnership.
Al McAughtry had this to say on his recent appointment, " Through the coaching and player development opportunities I have had at Diamond Valley, I have been fortunate to have been offered the chance to be involved as an Assistant Coach with the Melbourne Boomers under Head Coach Guy Molloy. My involvement at Diamond Valley will continue whilst I enter my first season in the WNBL. The support from Diamond Valley was critical to my decision to continue my education at the elite level. I look forward to being a link from the association level to the highest level we have in our country "
"This is a wonderful opportunity for Al to coach in the WNBL and we wish him the best of luck. He will be great for their program and will be of fabulous assistance to Guy as I have witnessed in the past,” said DVBA’s CEO Ross Wignell.
