With only 8 players available for the game, the YL women were faced with a tough ask in containing the 2nd placed Melbourne Tigers. The women played with great spirit but in the end had to settle for a narrow loss. Peterson continued her good form with 15 points and 8 rebounds whilst Vasilijevic (13) and Morris (10) also reached double figures on the scoreboard. The team sits in 4th place with just 1 round to play and will need to beat Sandringham and Hawthorn this weekend to secure a finals berth.

VYCM

Eagles 71 def by Melbourne Tigers 91

The Eagles entered this game high on confidence after a big win the previous week but couldn’t quite replicate the same performance against a professional Tigers outfit. With the absence of Dylan Dunstan and the SEABL listed players, Nic Sorani & Nathan Poelsma filled the void magnificently with both having a game high of 19 points whilst Matt Baggio was impressive on the boards pulling down 10 rebounds for the game. The men finish off the season with a double header weekend against Sandringham and Hawthorn.

SEABL Women

Eagles 76 def. Hobart Lady Chargers 68

The Eagles continued their winning streak on Friday night Basketball in front of a huge home crowd. Led by Lauren Scherf with 30 points and 13 rebounds, the Eagles led from start to finish to hold off a plucky Hobart team. In the end, the Eagles had too much firepower up front with Magbegor (12), Wehrung (12) and Whatman (10) all assisting Scherf to lead the team to victory.

Eagles 87 def. Frankston Blues 70

A terrific team performance from the women extended their winning streak to 6 on Saturday night down in Frankston. Twin towers of Scherf (20) and Magbegor (17) dominated inside with their strength and athleticism whilst Gould (13 points and 4 assists) put in one of her best performances for the season. With 9 players hitting the scoreboard, the women are in terrific form but face a tough trip to Launceston this weekend to take on the Tornadoes who sit equal with them on the ladder.

SEABL Men

Eagles 78 def. by Hobart Charges 91

The Eagles faced finals bound Hobart on Friday night and despite the large home crowd cheering them on, they couldn’t recover from a slow start to eventually lose by 13 points. The Eagles outscored Hobart in the 2nd half and were again led by Mike Best with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Whilst 10 players hit the scoreboard only Camps with 10 points made it to double figures. Young guns Killey and Roberts were impressive again and get better each week.
