MARYMEDE FLAMES ENJOY THE FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS

Friday night SEABL Basketball returned to the Diamond Valley Sports & Fitness Centre during the school holidays with a big crowd in attendance. There were exciting games on court with our women claiming a close win against Hobart whilst the men provided some great highlights in a narrow loss. For one club however, the night was even more special.

Being onboard this season as a SEABL Domestic Club Member, the Marymede Flames got to enjoy the game close up. They had some of their girls from the club involved as Team of the Week for the women’s game and they got to be involved in the high-five line during the player introductions and then got the chance to play their own game at half time in front of the big crowd.

The Marymede Flames Boys U12 team also go the opportunity to be involved as Team of the Week for the Men’s games. The boys were giving high-fives to the players during the warmup then they also got to replicate the girls by being involved in the player introductions and a game at half time. Being on court sweeping duty is also enjoyed by our Team of the Week and both the girls and boys were excited when they got the chance to “clean up” on court!!

To finish off the night, the boys and girls were able to meet the players after the games and get some prized autographs. This is one of the highlights of the nights and they didn’t let the opportunity slip. Australian Opal Ezi Magbegor was a favourite as was our American import Daniel Camps.

Throughout the season, we have had many local teams and our own Junior Championship teams be part of the Game day action by being our Team of the Week. The Senior players enjoy having the kids come along and support them and always love meeting the kids after the games. We look forward to one day seeing some of these boys and girls playing SEABL or BigV Basketball with the Eagles in the future!!
