KANSAK RETURNS TO THE NEST

Our Big V State Championship Men have made another sizeable addition to their 2016 roster, with the 6’6 former Eagle Harun ‘Harry’ Kansak re-joining the nest at DV.

Harry is no stranger to the DV family or to the Big V competition, playing a total of 135 in various leagues within the Big V, including time at the Eagles where he won the Big V State Youth Championship Men’s Most Valuable Player and Rising Star awards in 2011, also being named in the All Star Five that same year.

‘After a few years away from the club and the sport, Harry has been a bit of a success story – he’s been able to overcome injuries, regain his fitness and recharge his motivation to go again at this level – making our State Champ Men’s roster in arguably one of our strongest groups yet’, State Championship Men’s Head Coach Alan McAughtry said.

‘I’m personally excited to get to coach him again, for the first time since U16s, and the early signs of him in the pre season have been positive. The challenge for Harry is to stay in that kind of form and compete at State Champ level every week, but certainly he has shown the ability to handle some load for the team and play key minutes, when needed, in the practice matches we’ve played to date’.

‘It’s a real credit to Harry that he’s been able to come back and get physically and mentally back to this high standard of play – we just provided the opportunity for an ex-DV kid to return and give it a crack, and he has done the work required and earned all the rest himself’.

DVBA CEO Ross Wignell added ‘It’s great to see Harry back at the club. I know he’s been working hard over the summer to earn his position. I look forward to seeing him continue to improve his game throughout the season in this environment’.
