Civic League Wrap - Round 7

With the first seven rounds completed, there are two clear favourites at the current time to be competing on the big stage for the grand prize. The next seven weeks will be important for the rest of the league with the next 4 spots being equal on points, making it a sight to see with teams fighting to clinch a top 4 spot.

6.10PM Greenhills Beavers 76 v Dream Team 61

Greenhills has continued in their winning ways and has opened up their percentage advantage with a solid performance against the struggling Dream Team. Greenhills look a near certainty to be one of the last two standing at the end of the season. Greenhills did not let the foot off the pedal against Dream Team dominating inside the paint, Justin Petrie and Adam Moore used their size advantage to overpower the defence shown from Dream Team.

7.05PM Gale Force 53 – Wolves 66

 

The Wolves have pulled off a massive upset defeating the resilient Gale Force. Not only was it a great win for the underdogs but it was also their first win of the season. The game changing moment in the game would have to be the 3/4 court shot from Nathan Grimes that tied the game going into the last quarter. With the momentum on their side, the Wolves ran over the top of Gale Force with Nathan Grimes adding another 8 points to his stellar night.

8.00PM Uni Hill 44 v The Splashers 48

This was a tight contest between two teams that left everything on the court, with 2 free throws clinching the game in the last 10 seconds. This game could have gone either way with either team being able to take a big lead, but it was the heroic Sam Whelan in the fourth quarter that managed to get the Splashers the win.

8.55PM Redbacks 54 – St Marys Sharks 61

St Mary’s welcomed back their two big men and it proved the main reason they got the win, Cameron Conlon and Liam Bowkett combined for 35 of the 61 points. It was a much needed win for the Sharks with being early contenders for the top half, but now find themselves needing to keep up their winning form otherwise they may miss out altogether.
