FAREWELL FOR NOW
During the Christmas period, our Technical Director of Coaching Alan McAughtry was made aware of an opportunity to further his development across the Tasman as the Head Coach of the Mike Pero Nelson Giants men's team in New Zealand’s NBL competition.
After discussions with the DVBA, Melbourne Boomers, Basketball Australia and the Nelson Giants, Alan has decided to take up the position in New Zealand from late Feb to July 2017.
"I am humbled to be in a position where so many people are supporting this as I take leave of absence to pursue this extraordinary opportunity.
I am not leaving the DVBA, but after 10 years service, the club will hand the reigns over to Cecil and other prominent DV coaches will no doubt support him and the club. That is what DV does best.
Thanks for the support, it is an exciting time and I look to bring my experience back to the coaches and players at the DVBA. "
Al will depart for New Zealand on the 22nd Feb.
