PREMIERSHIP FIXTURES:
Under 13’s Gold Coast Suns Division Grand Final @ 12:50pm – Cairns Saints vs. Pyramid Power
The first U13’s game promises to be a great battle with two sides of equal standard taking to the main stage. Cairns Saints were able to advance through to the Grand Final a fortnight ago with a close victory over Cairns Hawks Gold. Cairns Saints have played a great standard of football all year despite having key players out at different stages due to rep football, earing themselves a spot in the Grand Final. Cairns Saints will be salivating at the inclusion of the U13’s Gold Coast Suns Division Runner up Best & Fairest Austin Harris to their side, who has missed the last 5-6 rounds with a broken collar bone. Pyramid Power will be relying on their notoriously quick ball movement and game-plan to catch the Cairns Saints off Guard. Pyramid have had a great run of form leading into the finals series, seeing them win their two finals matches to progress to this year’s Grand Final. Jakob Kennerley will be sure cause headaches for the Cairns Saints back man, with the big full-forward looking to continue to hit the scoreboard as he has all season to pull his side across the line. Banjo Dau’s pace and skill will be vital if Pyramid is to charge for premiership glory, with the full support and contributions of his fellow Pyramid team mates.
Cairns Saints will be heading into this match as favourites, seeing they were able to advance through to the Grand Final in early stages, however Pyramid will be sure to take it right up to the Saints boys in what is set to be a fantastic match of football.
Presentations @ 02:20pm
Under 13’s Brisbane Lions Division Grand Final @ 2:35pm – Cairns Hawks Brown vs. South Cairns White
Our second match of the U13’s will see a determined South Cairns White outfit take on the Undefeated Cairns Hawks Brown. After a dominant season at the top of the ladder, Cairns Hawks will be looking to put the icing on the cake by taking home the premiership cup. The Hawks will be counting on Brisbane Lion Division Best & Fairest Alex Davies to continue his dominant form on the day, with other key players in Tamuri Wigness, Marcell Hawash and Josh Camilleri set for big performances. Hawks Brown have been short on numbers all season, often relying on the services of U11’s to fill in on numerous occasions, regardless they are still clearly a very skilful and confident side and will provide a great spectacle come Grand Final Day. Despite having the odds against them South Cairns White won’t lay down without a fight for glory we can guarantee that. A team that has continued to work hard and improve each week, Souths came away with a hard fought victory over the Cairns City Lions in last week’s Preliminary Final, to hit the peak of its powers coming into this week’s Grand Final. South Cairns will be relying on the smooth moving Chris Martens and Agile Big man Dayne Pitman to drive Souths in the midfield, while Riley Ackers and Matthew Skeene will be sure to provide some quality run, carry and composure on the day for Souths. But, it will ultimately come down to the depth of Souths White playing group to unite as a team, giving 100%, to take it right up to Hawks Brown to be able to walk away with the premiership glory.

Under 15’s Coffee Club Grand Final @ 4:20pm – AFLCY Eagles vs. Cairns Hawks
Well folks, this is one you are not going to want to miss. I don’t think anyone is game enough to pick a clear favourite in this match, with both sides boasting great depth within their playing group. The reigning premiers AFLCY will be sure to dazzle the opposition and spectators with their freakish athletic ability combined with natural skill sets. Philemon Nona will be the pillar of strength down back for AFLCY, with Fitzroy Greenwool and Craig Googleye looking to provide some dashing run through the midfield. Cairns Hawks back men will have their hands full when the Sherrin enters inside 50, with Lester Shipton and Zarlee Woola set for big outings in AFLCY’s attack. First year Hawks coach Travis Jarvis has done a fantastic job with his troops in season 2015 and is hoping to take a full strength side into Sunday’s big dance. With quite a few bigger bodies, the Hawks will be looking to win plenty of contested football to get the edge over their speedy opposition. Hamiso Tubai-Fidow and Mamakumai Naiyep will use their representative rugby and football attributes to glide their way through the AFLCY defence, with agile swing man Tom West will patrol both ends as key focal point for the Hawks. The Hawks are in no shortage of talented tall timber with the likes of Ricky Wardle, William Messa, Cameron Wilson, Mitchell Schulze and Kaleb Henderson to set up a strong spine for the Hawks come Grand Final Day. This match will be sure to provide a true exhibition of skill, speed and smarts with either side eyeing off that premiership cup.

Cazalys Colts Grand Final @ 5:55pm – AFLCY Eagles vs. Pyramid Power
The Colts competition is our premier junior grade and this Grand Final will be played with extreme pace, flashy skills an unpredictable game structures. The Eagles will take on Minor Premiers, Pyramid Power. The Power were unstoppable during the regular season. In saying that, both sides have been nestled on the top of the ladder for the entire season, with only one game separating them at seasons end. AFLCY Eagles will be fresh heading into Sunday’s Grand Final after defeating Pyramid by 41 points a fortnight ago in the Semi Final Rounds. While for Pyramid, they had to play in an elimination final last week against 3rd placed Cairns City Lions which saw them win by 13 points to progress to the Grand Final. Recent matches in 2015 between the two sides have been tight throughout the regular season. Pyramid Power won in R2 by 16 points while in R13 the Eagles were successful in victory by 10 points. These two Clubs have built a tremendous rivalry over the past 24 months and we expect this to continue on Sunday. The Gordonvale based side average over 12 goals per match, while the Eagles average one less with 11 majors. Pyramid by far in the regular season were the best defensive team in the Colts Competition, conceding on average 25 points per game in 2015. Both team have exciting and influential players across the ground. For the Eagles, 2015 Reg Lillywhite Medalist, Lewis Fauid will be pivotal in the middle. While in the ruck, Runner Up in the Best & Fairest Joey Kura physical presence will be needed if the Eagles are to soar to victory. With a late return, Glendon Woosup adds on field leadership and stability across the backline but poses as a threat in the midfield and up forward when given the chance. Finally, the athleticism of Damien Burke will be an X-Factor for the Eagles as will the speed and clean disposal of QLD Representative, Brandon Jackonia. For Pyramid Power, livewire Richard Barba will prove to be a difficult match up for the Eagles. His pace, agility and ability to read the bounce of the ball is sensational. Adam Jamison will be integral down back for Pyramid in this match. Daboh Forna will need to capitalise in the ruck and give players like Justin Hill and Philip Solomon first use of the football. Forna’s athleticism is sensational. The match will be hard fought and a great spectacle.
Youth Girls Grand Final @ 7:40pm – Manunda Hawks vs. Cairns City Lions
In their inaugural year as an official competition, the Youth Girls Grand Final will be a fantastic opportunity for female football to put on a showcase of their up and coming local talent. The Manunda Hawks were able to secure their spot in the Grand Final in the 2nd Semi – Final with a solid win over the Cairns City Lions a fortnight ago, and will be looking to defend their reputation as the powerhouse of the Youth Girls competition by taking home this year’s premiership. Gurtie Kris and Moesha Morris will provide plenty of run and carry in for the hawks, with Lahtiffa Benjamin playing the role of ‘The General’ in the Hawks defence with Leota Munro- Tom to provide strong assistance. It will be a battle of the sisters with Macey & Shauna Ware of Cairns City Lions to go head to head with the Hawks Kiara & Nancy Matthew. These girls shaped the top 4 of the 2015 Youth Girls league Best & Fairest count, with Macey Ware coming away with the top award after a stand out season, followed by Nancy (2nd), Kiara (3rd) and Shauna (4th). Cairns City Lions will be back at full strength for the Grand Final showdown and will be out to claim the Hawks throne. Lions will look to Igari Ahmat to carry the majority of the ruck duties for the match, hoping she will provide her midfielders first use of the football to combat an experienced Hawks midfield.
Presentations @ 08:55pm
Good luck to all teams competing in finals.
