Macedon ended a five-year losing streak against Riddell when it put on a powerhouse performance to win by 103-points at Riddells Creek Reserve on Saturday.
The young Bombers lost Ben Sonogan early in the first term as Macedon slammed home 12 goals to two in the final stanza to record the big win.
Riddell welcomed former Sunbury Lions duo Brad Collins and Tanner Bell in for their first Senior game at the club while James Evans made the most of his good form for a Senior recall.
Macedon had not beaten the Bombers since 2012, where it did so by two-points. Even then, that victory atoned for a rare win over the Bombers, in 2011, by two-points when the game was called off in the third term.
Riddell started strongly without hitting the scoreboard; taking an early two-point lead. Macedon's James Wright marked and kicked truly from a 50-metre penalty at the 13-minute mark of the contest.
Tragedy struck Riddell utility Ben Sonogan in the early part of the term when he sprinted from the opposition goal square to a contest at Riddell's half-forward and then came down on his leg; coming off the ground and was not sighted again.
Macedon wingman Shaun Harrison set the game alight when he gathered the ball on the wing, handballed to a team mate and receiving it again at left half forward; kicking a big-time goal from 50 metres out in one of the more impressive goals this season. Macedon opened up an 18-point lead.
Riddell's Tommy Alkemade wrote himself into the history books this year. The Cats had yet to concede a goal in first quarters this year and had 20 unanswered goals on the board for the season until Alkemade took the most of an advantage free-kick and goaled from outside 50 on the run.
Alkemade's goal was the last of Riddell's joy in front of the big sticks for 70 long minutes by which Macedon had kicked five goals to open up a handy lead.
Macedon led the Bombers by as much as 47-points in the third term and 12-goals had been kicked between the two sides to three-quarter-time. Macedon was clearly on top against the young Bombers but didn't make the most of its chances thanks to some hard work by Tim Walsh; Bell and Collins in the backline.
The final term needed something to give; and it did. Harrison kicked an inspiring goal from around the body on his opposite foot to start the final term for the visitors.
Ollie Messaoudi replied for the Bombers minutes later after a confrontation between team mate Nathan Croft and a number of Cats. Eventually a pack of more than a dozen players joined in on the action that fizzled out pretty quick.
When Riddell's James Nolan kicked a goal at the eight-minute mark of the final term, the margin was just 43-points; but then the carnage started.
Macedon forward Mat Knox kicked back-to-back goals in the space of a minute from the next bounce. The Cats kicked a staggering 10 goals in 21 minutes (three to Chris Kilmartin) to end the contest 17-goal winners. Macedon dominated out of the centre clearances against a tiring, young Riddell outfit.
Macedon 21.14 (140) defeated Riddell 5.7 (37)
Rising star Seb Miletic was impressed with the win.
"We grinded out the first three quarters and in the last quarter, we ran over the top," Miletic says.
Macedon midfielder Aaron Christiansen was a great link-man around the ground and highlighted the balance in the team.
"We regard everyone as equal but if we get that 15 to 22 players all contributing, we're going to go a really long way," Christiansen says.
