AFL Goldfields is delighted to announcement the employment of Krista Woodroffe as our 1st ever Female Football Manager. This is a new full time position within the AFL Goldfields administrative structure and Krista will be a dedicated resource that will be responsible for the promotion, development and operation of female football across the AFL Goldfields region, and to do so in partnership with the Nth Ballarat Rebels.
As Female Football Manager Krista will have 3 key tasks – managing the operation of the AFL Goldfields female competitions (Open Age, Youth Girls and Junior Girls), female game development activities (within schools, Auskick, club promotion, etc) and also work with the Nth Ballarat Rebels to manage the Rebels Youth Girls & Under 15 Girls Academy and introduce an Under 15 Academy.
The decision to employ a Female Football Manager reflects the remarkable growth in female participation. In 2016 AFL Goldfields had 20 female sides competing across our Junior Girls, Youth Girls and Open Age competitions, and in 2017 this is expected to grow to between 45-50 female sides competing in our Junior Girls, Youth Girls and Open Age Female competitions.
Krista has had a decorated sporting and professional background.
Krista has been a highly regarded netballer, having played Netball with Ballan where she was a senior Best & Fairest winner, and Springbank where she was a member of their CHNL Premiership team in 2015. She also Coached the Melton FNC Senior Netball side in the Ballarat FNL from 2011 to 2013 where she took the side to the Grand Final (unfortunately losing to Lake Wendouree) and Coached Ballan in 2014.
Krista played football for the Bacchus Marsh FNC in 2015 in the AFL Goldfields Open Age Female competition, and was adjudged the Clubs MVP. In 2015 Krista was also a recipient of an AFL Goldfields Women In Football scholarship, and was recently appointed Assistant Coach of the 1st Western Jets TAC Cup female team.
Krista is also a member of the Geelong Cats VFL List of 42 players announced for the upcoming VFL 2017 season.
From a professional perspective Krista completed a Certificate III & IV in fitness at Federation University, and is currently employed by Belgravia Leisure as Assistant Manager at the Melton Waves Leisure Centre, and was formerly Manager at Bacchus Marsh Leisure Centre.

Krista will commence with AFL Goldfields on Monday 30th January 2017.
