RUPERTSWOOD has been dealt some untimely injury blows as it prepares for Riddell District Football League finals.
The club last week confirmed playing assistant coach Brett Chambers would miss the rest of the season after breaking his collarbone against Riddell last weekend, while Austin Cicero (ankle) and Ryan Monzell (dislocated elbow) could also miss the remainder of the year after going down in the same match.
“They’re losses for us but we can’t complain too much, we’ve had a pretty good run up until now,” Rupertswood coach Ben Jordan said.
“Chambers especially, he’s a real A-Grade talent and it’s disappointing to lose a guy like him because he brings a lot of leadership. We got him across from Sunbury and he’s a pretty decorated footballer. So it’s a loss, but you’ve just got to roll with it.”
Rupertswood was one of three teams to have a bye at the weekend, but there were some big results in the five games that were played.
The game which was tipped to be the best of the round between Rockbank and Riddell lived up to expectations — the Bombers getting over the line by just eight points against a gallant Rams outfit.
