This years C grade Grand Final was a battle of our up and coming younger players in the competition.
Both teams finished in 3rd and 4th position on the ladder at the end of the home and away season, but both teams played beyond their years.
The game was won in the first quarter when Riddell piled on 10 goals to Macedon’s one. This was just too large of a margin to pull back. Michaela Asiack starved retiring veteran Melissa Climas of the ball all game which resulted in the prolific goal shooter only bagging 10 for the game.
The full court pressure was too much for the Macedon girls to handle. The Cats made various changes through out the game but could not find the right combination to peg the margin back.
Riddell had winners all over the court. Grace Morganti was strong in the defensive ring and was able to get numerous deflections which resulted in the Riddell midcourts being able to clear up the crumbs and get the ball down to their goalers.
Emma Croft was sensational in the centre position for the Bombers. She was able to get numberous turnovers and get the ball in to her goalers. Riddell swung the pocket rocket, Paige Bridgeman from Wing Attack into the Goal attack position in the second half and the dynamic goaler had an immediate impact shooting five for the quarter.
It was a great win for the Riddell girls, whose average age in 16.
Riddell ran out comfortable winners by 8 goals and Paige Bridgeman was named Best on Court.
