Romsey Football Netball Club is off to a good start to season 2017. The netballers are 2-0 and footballers are 1-1 from its two Senior games.

The Redbacks are 1-1 from its two hit-outs to start the season. A competitive loss against Sunbury Kangaroos last Saturday and a fighting win over Melton Centrals on Thursday night has placed it well to tackle the season ahead.
The club appointed Corey O'Sullivan has its new coach in the off-season, taking over from Andrew Bubb who left the club in good hands with an emerging list of local players mixed with youth and experience to carry the club forward into the future.
O'Sullivan is in a unique position in having stepped into the Senior role after being successful as a junior coach. His lack of Senior coaching experience has not deterred his ability to be successful at this level.
"The step up from the juniors to the Seniors, I haven't noticed there has been a real difference, the philosophies of the game don't change and the mechanisms don't change," O'Sullivan says.
"Your expectations of them (the players) are different but the transition has been pretty seemless as far as the club has been concerned."
O'Sullivan believes that there is a lot of players in the team where their best football is still ahead of them. He is eager to work with them and put the steps in place to help them reach their full potential.
"It's a terrific playing group, the club is heading onwards and upwards, I'm happy with how things were going over the pre-season," O'Sullivan says.
The playing list from 2016 to now hasn't changed greatly. Jack O'Sullivan has returned from duties at the Calder Cannons while Jaidyn Caruna and Alan Jeffries have been handy additions.
James Carroll has returned to the club. He is in a unique position because he has played two years at Romsey, both premiership winning seasons, in 2011 and 2015.

Romsey continued its perfect start to the season last night when it held off a determined Melton Centrals outfit by 14-goals. The victory was its second of the season after accounting for Rupertswood by 10-goals in Round One.
The Redbacks finished fourth in 2016 under the guidance of Lena Way as Senior coach. She continues in her second season as coach in 2017 and with two wins from as many games against quality opposition, the appointment has been perfect.
The club said good bye to Katelyn Byron and Carolyn McCarthy over the off-season but welcomed Cayley Armstrong, Bronwyn Blair, Danni Davidson, Elle McDonald, Sarah Szykulsko and Lauren Anglin.
Sarah is one of the young stars to watch. She is a VNL player with Championship Division experience and is a Tassie Magpies ANL team member.
Sarah is a tall, strong defender who moves well and has incredible eye for the ball.
Elle McDonald is a key player to watch. A VNL player, she showcases strength and awareness that is second to none. Elle is a powerful centre-court player who can also play defense and be a key to the entire team.
Romsey believe that a new-look Macedon is the team to watch.
